Keith F. Backer, the sole shareholder of Backer Law Firm, P.A., has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1984. Since 1987, Mr. Backer has represented community association clients in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Mr. Backer has represented hundreds of community associations and individuals concerning community association legal issues both with Backer Law Firm and as a partner in the largest community association law firm in Florida.
Mr. Backer obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Economics from The American University, Washington, D.C., and studied Government and Politics at The London School of Economics & Political Science, London, England. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law, Coral Gables, FL. A member of The Florida Bar continuously since 1984, he is admitted to practice in all Florida courts as well as the United States Bankruptcy Court and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Backer was recently honored to be admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and was sworn in by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. at the Court in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Backer has lectured to community association managers at programs sponsored by Community Association Institute and has participated in other programs to educate lawyers, property managers and the general public about community association issues. Mr. Backer was a contributing editor to Florida Admissibility of Evidence, Harrison & Co. 1989, a book designed to aid trial lawyers and has contributed to The Florida Bar practice manual on community association law designed to aid other practitioners address legal issues unique to Florida community associations.
